Recycling

Hey peeps,
Yesterday was our rakhi.. Don't ask me why we celebrate it later than the rest of the people for I have no clue but it was a good haul this year.. More cash for craft shopping.. LOL..

Anyways This is my first project as a GD for any blog and it feels good.. ALTHOUGH.. it gave me jitters and goosebumps and worse was.. I could ask NO ONE for help as to how it looked.. I think I realized that being a DT member is not easy and deadlines mess up your mind for when you really need a Eureka moment, it sadly never happens.... It definitely was a good experience...

Now going onto the challenge, this time around at CraftyJC, we are doing our bit in saving Mother Earth so we'd like to see recycling in your projects.. it could be ANYTHING and not necessarily restricted to paper.. so get cracking and open your minds... Please make sure you leave a before and after picture so that everyone can know what it is that you have exactly recycled...

Here is my project, I made a bag out of old newspapers and embellished it with quilled flowers.. one made from recycled reader's digest cover and some flowers made of quilling strips...

The BEFORE PICTURE

 Well as you can see, I've used old newspapers and my readers digest magazine covers ONLY.. I could never cut up my reader's digest....

And THE AFTER PIC

Voila.. Here it is.. I coloured the bag with red acrylic colours.. Those black die cuts are done out of old perfume box gift set whose scraps I threw away.. Did some faux stitching.. The digital sentiment is from some place I picked up on the internet ( blast my horrible memory, I need to organize my digital folders better)...The center quilled cornflowers are the ones I made from the reader's Digest cover, the side flowers are made of white quilling strips.. the cornflowers have a bee-hive shaped quilled piece for center.. I have blinged it up using Pie Lane glitter balls and butterflies..

The BACK...

The TOP VIEW

The bag is made out of sticking 5 sheets of newspaper together to give it some sturdiness.. I also added pieces of packing cardboard to give the base and top lapels some sturdiness...

You wanna see a side view.. Oh well if YOU INSIST..*wink*

Well I loved this challenge.. It made me try something which I had never done before and it was VERY challenging for me.. It took me ages to work out what I really wanted to make and kept trying and trying until all the elements fell in place... Recycling is a good way of using a lot of scraps to give a unique dimension to your project..

Hoping to see y'all at CraftyJC with recycling..

I am entering this project for the following challenges:
Wags 'n' Whiskers=> anything but a card
Totally paper crafts=> not a card
MAWTT=> Handmade flowers
paper play=> make your own flowers
Bearly Mine=> flowers flowers flowers
Die cut dreams=> make a gift box or bag

I also wanted to thank Dr.Sonia.. She gave me an award which makes me feel super.. She gave me the appreciated follower award... Well Doc.. It's a pleasure to be your follower for I get to learn so much from you.. Thank you for inspiring me always with your work...

Gosh it is difficult for me to give it to any one person.. So this is for all the people who drop by my blog regularly and comment.. you know who you are so right ahead and pick this award.. This is me saying thank you for always always being there and encouraging me to work harder...

That's all for now folks... Am off to plan my niece's birthday party which is tomo...Your comments are highly appreciated...Till the next time.. Happy crafting...

Hugs,
Khush

P.S: I've gotten a lot of requests for the corn flower.. I will DEFINITELY try to put up the tutorial next week.. Life is very hectic at the moment to say the least...
