Birthday Easel

Hey guys,
Back with another post.. I have been having a great time crafting lately.. The ideas are plenty and thankfully being able to execute them as I want to.. :).. The feeling is totally euphoric.. I used to get really annoyed when my ideas wouldn't translate onto paper..

I made a scallop circle easel card.. Have seen everyone around me try it and I was skeptical trying it out because- well I don't have a die-cutting machine and I would have had to hand-cut it and that was preventing me from trying it out.. Yesterday I let go all my inhibitions.. Took out my trusted scissors and got on with the job.. :)

This is what I came up with.. :D

I should have taken a closer shot of the card standing.. Nonetheless.. This should suffice for the moment.. it's a green card.. I have a penchant for unusual color mood swings.. I scare my own self when it comes to my color choices.. Vintage has been on my mind lately but I am not a vintagy person so I am not letting it take over my brain.. :D

A few more shots of the card... The first of it lying flat.. :)

Now a close-up of the image..

A close up of the simple sentiment... :)

Here it is.. A sweet, simple and must say a small and compact card.. I used to wonder at the size of the circle easel cards when I saw them being made by others... After making one for myself I realized it's really small and compact.. There is not much room to go over board with your embellishment.. I like more room to go about doing my embellishing and this was a real test for me as I was left with no space at all after I placed the digi.. :).. But super fun card to make.. :)

For my Angel.. :-)

This is a really special project for a couple of reasons... First... I made it for my Angel, a.k.a. Deetya (her name) and secondly.. My first attempt at so-called scrapbooking.. I usually shy away from ti for I have no idea what to do.. :D...

Hey folks,
How has everyone been.. Having a crafty week so far.. and has the exhaustion of Diwali over.. I still feel so lethargic... This project is one on which I have spent the longest time ever.. I guess about 10 days in planning and execution and of course lots of wasted Card sock.. I never seem to make it right at first go...

WARNING: Very Picture heavy post.. And I mean it literally...

As all of you are aware.. I recently became an aunt.. Now my niece is a month old and wanted to do something special for her... Since it was around diwali her first month birthday came.. I could not do much about it.. Had already decided upon what I wanted to make for her.. Just the timing was postponed.. Made a sort of exploding album for her.. which looks like  cross between a gate-fold card and a squash book... :D.. And of course.. Since am going through a PINK phase, it was perfect and absolutely right... :D..

Take a look at the pictures and I'll ramble later on some more... It contains a lot of my niece's pictures so am going to go ooh and aah in between.. :-)

This is how the album looks with the ribbon tied around it.. All PINK.. :D

Isn't the digi adorable... I took an even more close-up shot of it.. Should I post it.. :D

There, now you can look at it more closely.. :D

This is the left panel of the gate fold when you open up.. A couple of tags and a cute winnie the pooh image (I tried to highlight the image with black pen but forgot that it was yet to dry and poor Pooh has black stains on his head.. *embarrassed*)

The right panel of the gate fold... Again a couple of tags and the very cute Tinker bell.. :-)

This is the view once the "gates" are opened... These are the myriad expressions of my niece.. And oh she loves posing.. The orange dress one is her first so-called photo shoot and man she was just a week old but look at her expressions... :-)

This is how the album explodes open.. This album opens up to form an 18*18 base.. Which really is huge... :D... So you can imagine how much of card stock I have used for it... :-)....

After the album explodes open.. I have made a sort of flip book in the centre which has more pictures...Giving you details shots of each picture... :D

This picture show the family.. My bro, sister-in-law and 'our" angel.. :-)

Do you see the party hat... ;-)

This picture shows angel in the arms of her uncle (my sister-in-law's bro), me and her father...

These are individual shots of the paneled squares after you open the gates...

Phew... This is it guys.. the complete album... Let me take a breather and then I'll mention the supplies and everything... :-)....

The dark pink base card stock is bought locally while the baby pink is a mix of fabriano and locally bought.. All the PPs are from Grace Taylor Vintage Collection bought from Karuna's store....Thanks Karuna.. These are extremely gorgeous papers... :-).. The teddy bear digi images are from Anne Bodil.. Go check her blog.. She has some awesoem freebies... The Winnie the Pooh and Tinker bell images were coloring pages googled.. The covering page teddy bear has pink rhinestones on it's nigth suit which is from my stash.. The stars are covered with Pie Lane chunky glitter.. The pink Gingham ribbon is from my stash.. (anyone interested in buying these plus a few more ribbons kindly contact me.. I have a LOT of extras.. )... Once you opened the gates, inside the tags are traced and hand cut from scraps.. Faux stitching using my white signo gel pen.. The border is an ek Success punch and the black gems are from my stash... on the right panel those cute butterflies are from Pie Lane.. After the gates are opened.. I have used Pie Lane swirls (Sri-I love the swills.. Pass on the message to you know who).. and that rabbit I think it is is also from Pie Lane...The flip book cover also has Swirls from Pie Lane and the Pie Lane wooden buttons, a very versatile product.. Can be used anywhere... On the inside panels I have used Pie Lane Crystals where I have written quotes.. :-).. On the opened up panels are again pictures of my Angel and used Pie Lane butterflies and Swirls... Tinker bel;l has Pie Lane Flower beads form their garden collection....That's it I think.. All the ribbon is from my stash...

That's all the things I have used... Special mention I would make about my scor-pal and the Fiskars trimmer which made it easier for me to make this card.. So karuna.. Heartfelt thanks...

Simply Scrapping....

Hello....

How has everyone been and how was Diwali?? Did you guys have a blast... I did have a blast although now am so tired I feel lethargic to even move my BIG body... Aarrggghhhh... And of course, with every break I take my Mojo says.. Well you wanted a holiday for 2 days.. I'll give you even a longer break.. I'll go fishing and I am like Aaaaarrrggghhhh a second time...

Anyways.. today's card is a scrappy one.. I have now accumulated like 2 big boxes of scraps and mum was going pretty berserk and kept threatening to throw them out.. And I was really scared in case she decided to make good of the threat... So I was scratching my head wondering what to make when this idea clicked to me....Had been speaking to my best mate's girl then.. She kind of liked the idea and asked me to make one for her guy ( meaning my bestie) to celebrate ALMOST 5 years of togetherness *wood touch*... So basically, I literally put my heart in it...

Made a tag book... Or whatever you wanna call it.. It was basically a way for me to use my scraps.. I cut off the tiniest of pieces to make use of it... LOL...

Take a look at it but let me give you far warning that this is a PICTURE HEAVY POST... :D

This is how it looks like in a bunch... Now I will give you close-up shots of individual tags...

Like I mentioned... All the tags made out of scraps.... The die cut shape has been traced and hand cut... This time it became tedious because it really was a long ask... :-).. the digi is a coloring page from the net.. All the bling on it from my stash... All the white space will be covered by my friend.. She wanted to add something to it.. LOL... Colored using my water color pencils from Staedler... and some faux stitching around it... :-).. the just a note is from Unity's Just wanted to say bought from Ujjwal...

Made a mini card and stuck on this tag.. The die cut shape ofcourse has been traced.. even this mini-card is made out of scraps.. The PP was a RAK from Shruti and this is the last bit of scrap left from it which I have used...The MS butterflies were a RAK from Spardha ( Thank you Kiddo.. I love them).. and some Pie Lane crystals... and faux stitching around it using my white signo gel pen.. :-)

A lot of stickers from Itsy Bitsy.. Some faux stitching... and my wonderful writing...

The red circles have been hand drawn and cut.. Faux stitching.. The yellow space is left blank for some doodling... (personal stuff.. Cannot show it on blogger.. *wink*)...

Hobby Ideas PP, Scallop circle hand cut.. Itsy bitsy flowers embosed and some Pie Lane Chunky glitter and glitter balls... :-)

Pie Lane silhouette sticker and loads of writing... :D....

made a sun out of die cuts... And just the Pie Lane Out line hearts for embellishment.. Simple.. :-)

Some quilling by moi, Pie Lane flowers and leaves... They are just so adorable and fun to use.. Love the effect of them with quilling... :-).. The golden star on the flower centre was sent to me by Doc... More of it later...

A tag with a pocket to hold some more tags.. LOL... THis was made by request.. There is no dearth of writing when you're in LOVE... :D.. The PP was a birthday RAK from Piali..

This is the last tag of the lot.. I have made a single page squash book and stuck it on the tag.. Squash books are good fun to make.. Will post the one I made soon, as soon as the recipient receives it... The PP on top of the squash book is from Street lace which I bought from Karuna's store...The PTI butterfly has been traced and cut on the last scrap of PP which was a RAK from Shruti... The ribbon is from my stash... Lots of faux stitching again... :-)

A look at the cover of the squash book... :-)

The brown bling is from my stash... Inspired by seeing cards from Tejal and Shalini.. Their flourishes look like flourishes.. Mine looks like a trail of fire... What the heck.. I'll improve.. :D....

The inside of the squash book... :-)

The top left and bottom right PP is from Hobby Ideas.. The squashed squares have PP from Grace Taylor and Paper Mania.. The former bought from karuna's store and the latter a RAK from tejal... The red flower stones were sent to me by Doc and the so are the tiny flowers used on the top panel.. Thanks Doc...

Well, that's it folks.. This is the complete tag book.. I had so much fun making it.. There is just so much you can do with this.. the scope and possibilities are endless...

Special mention about my delayed birthday card from Doc.. She sent me the most amazinf phoenix pop up card... Which unfortunately has been kept somewhere in the whole diwali cleaning.. promise to upload it as soon as I lay my hands on it again.. Along came a pack of beautiful rhinestones, leaves and heart shaped pearls...Thanks so much for ti Doc... Truly appreciate it...

Friends are a gift.. :-)

Hey peeps,

Back with another card..  Just on a spree of completing ll the backlog I have managed to compile because of the exhibition.. SO studiously pouring over my unfinished cards and working on them.. :-)..

This card I had seen while participating in one of the blog hops.. I don't remember which one but the lady;s card was my favorite amongst all the cards and I had promptly noted down all the instructions because it was an unusual fold and I LOVE unusual folds...

This card started of for someone.. then I decided no I'd give it to another one and then another.. Ultimately I kind of forgot who I wanted to give the card to... Good thing also.. Did not complete it as it it... Anyways enough of ramblings... You guys just look at the card.. :-)

The fold of the card really appealed to me... It's like uncovering a lot of layers.. Like in a person when you meet.. We have so many layers to our personalities and as we become better friends, we uncover something new about one another.. This card had actually started for Tejal, sorry Tee.. I dropped the idea mid-way.. And then went to a hoard of people before I decided to give it to bestie # 2... :-)... She really is a dear soul...

Now some more views of the cards...

This is with the ribbon untied.. I have tried tying bows.. I am kind of getting the technique and can see an improvement in my bows.. Not as good as E.T's but definitely improving.. :D...

This is how it looks when the windows open.. (windows remind me of some really silly statements made by my bio teacher way back in school.. She's be like.. Girls.. open the windows and let the atmosphere come in and we'd be like :-o.. *LOL*)....

A close-up of the cutie image.. :-)...

The full open view of the card.. :-)... Now some close-ups of the individual panel.... *wink*

The sentiment says it all..

Love the deco shells border... :-)...

The blue metallic card stock is locally bought.. Some great colors in the metallic finish.. Shiny and Bright..  The fronta panel has Echo Park splash PP which I got from Ujjwal.. The windows have Bo Bunny Ad Lib papers from karuna's store... The insides have PPs from Hobby Ideas...The digi image is a freebie I found while searching for images on Google...The die cut flowers are from Itsy Bitsy have been embossed and layered.. the leaves and ferns were a RAK from priya.. Thanks girl... The ribbon's from my stash... The PTI butterfly has been traced and cut... Flower centres have Pie Lane glitter balls and so do the butterflies.. On the inside, The die-cuts have again been traced and hand cut.. The sentiment is from a MICIA stamp set I won in the ICR DT celebrations sponsored by Karuna and inked using a MICIA rainbow inkpad again given by Karuna.. The MS deco shells punch to complete the card.. :-) *Phew*... In case I missed something and you noticed.. Just drop in a comment and I will let you know...!!!

Double Twisted Easel Card

Hello mates,

What's happening.. You guys been to garba for Navratri.. I went for dandiyas in Delhi.. It was super fun... After coming back from Delhi, I realized my heart is not in crafting... I keep thinking about my niece all day long waiting for her to come back...So to get my mojo kicking I arranged all my craft stuff (AGAIN.. it was already neat, I scattered it and re-did it all over again).. And Voila, the brain started functioning A BIT... *wink*

I have made a few easel cards before, the simple ones and I wanted to try something more complicated, so I gave a try to the twisted easel card hoping it would be complicated, but it really is not.. It's very simple nd is all about correct measurements and  balance..So I searched and saw some lovely samples of twisted easel cards and made my own...Quite a bit of firsts in this card for me.. Will list them later

WARNING: Picture Heavy post

So here goes my take on the twisted easel card...

Ok, you have to excuse me for the bad pictures.. The light was dwindling and the weather is not helpful for photographs... And this needs to be posted ASAP.... So this is my take on the double twisted easel card.. I'll give you close ups of all the elements and then prattle about the card...

The left panel...

The right panel:

The tags.. They are just cut in shapes and punched and an eyelet is studded into them.. No mean feat.. just for writing sentimental ramblings...

The centre sentiment.. :D

That was one heck of a post with lots of pictures... LOL... Anyways.. let's dissect this card...

The base is a 10*10 beige card stock bought locally ( I know that's like HUGE).. The panels are 5*5 squares of the same colored card stock.. On the panels I have used a double-sided PP which was a RAK on my birthday from Ash.. The base PP was a birthday RAK from Shruti. The image is a coloring page from Sarah Kay I found on Google... The die cuts have been traced and hand cut and done some faux stitching around both the die cuts... The ribbon is from my stash and so are the mulberry roses ( using them for the first time.. Yipppeeee).. The tags are of all basic shapes made from scraps left from the cards I keep making.. Did faux stitching on them and the pink ribbon is from my stash.. Blinged it up using some Pie Lane butterflies.. On the pocket panel are PTI butterflies, traced and cut on scraps of PPs left with me... blinged up the butterfly using Pie Lane chunky glitter.. The black stones are from my stash.. The center sentiment is borrowed from a friend.. Used an Ek Success border punch in black for the centre.. Some more Pie Lane butterflies and faux stitching and touched up with Pie Lane buttons... :-).. The eyelets are bought from a local shop!

There you have it.. All the ingredients for a card which took me a whole load of time.. Almost 6 hours.. :-|... The longest I have ever taken to complete one card...

Anyways am entering this card for the following challenges:-
ICRC11=> Easel card+ use basic shapes (squares, circles, rectangles and triangles)
Allsorts=> 5 flowers
Creative Card Crew=> Easel cards
Paper and such design=> Recipe ( ribbon, designer paper, 2 buttons)
OSAAT=> use a digi

That's all folks.. Your comments are highly valuable for me... Have a great week...

Hugs,
Khush
