pop-up book card

Hello everyone,

Bright and sunny Monday morning and I am back with a post which is thankfully not an order and not part of any swap.. I realized lately all my creations were just that....

I sat down to make a pop-up book card which I had come across on Pinterest ( love to browse through there) and It was really challenging for me for it required straight line cutting using your craft knife ( I suck at cutting using the knife... the cutting knife and me are not the best of friends but nevertheless we have called for a temporary truce for this project.. :p)

It took me the entire day yesterday to finish it and well in the end it was really worth it... every element is how I wanted it to be... I have kept it really simple and just showcasing the limited supplies I have used on this project...

So enough rambling.. Will just show the pics...

I loved making this one... and it's a huge one... 6x6 in size... and there was a lot of measuring and hand-cutting involved... I just realized how difficult it is to do a pop-up mechanism and my very dear blogger pal Dr.Sonia does it with such panache and ease.. I now truly realize the effort that goes into making it.. Hats off to you Doc..!!

P.S I Love You

Hahaha, Please do not get confused by the title.. I am not doing a book review...I suck at reviews ( and that is just about anything)..

Happy Valentines Day all.. The last few weeks all on the blogland and facebook I have been bombarded with the valentine fever... So finally I sat down to make this mini and put in all the love I could for my someone special... Mind you, it is not for him but I did make it keeping him in mind soo...

I made a mini... I have no name for this.. it is like a flat version of an explosion box, just bigger in size...And I put in as much of pink and black and red possible.. I am almost blinded by the bright colors *wink*

I wasn't too sure how to do up the cover so I have left it without any embellishments for the moment, so if any of you have any suggestions please feel free to give them to me.. I would really be obliged...

SO now that I have given a lengthy enough introduction to my post, I shall go on and share the pictures.. Needless to say, like all my posts, this is a VERY picture heavy post.

I absolutely love this quote and really does hold true... Like you can see, no embellishments.

Bottom Flap

the top flap opens to a tag page

so does the bottom flap

the other flap

I absolutely loved doing the distressing inside the die-cut. Thanks Tejal for this inspiration. It makes a lot of difference to a project from taking it to ok to something eye-catchy. *hugs*

another panel to hold tags

There is a similar panel on the other end too which read 10 reasons I love you and holding a couple of tags.. I forgot to take pictures of that.. :D

a peek-a-boo page

This pee-a-boo page is inspired by Erum who happens to be a great source of inspiration to me. Thanks Erum *hugs*

the inside of the peek-a boo page

Again, the other end has a similar pee-a-boo page. I have tried to balance it out as much as possible...

heat embossed CS with heat embossed sentiment and an insert

This was my most favorite part.. I tried heat embossing for the very first time and it was super fun... :D

the insert

the pocket and insert together

centre panel

The idea for this mini came all off a sudden.. I was kinda bored since my niece isn't around and once I started I could not stop.. I think I went a bit overboard... It was challenging for ti had quote a few firsts for me.. The distressing and heat embossing bit... and I think I used up most of my dies which are quite few as you can see.. :LOL

Birthday wishes

Hello everyone,

I know I know, I have been MIA for ages... Just been too busy attending weddings... It is the wedding season in India and with weddings in the family, it just gets all the more hectic....

And in between all this, I had the opportunity to meet two of best-est girlfriends I have made and have been working closely for the past one year.. Could not msis out on the opportunity of meeting them...

To say it was a crazy day would have been an understatement... It was amazing and it was after ages that I laughed so much...

Now that I have said all that... Back to crafting... It was after a long hiatus that I crafted and like any other thing you do, I felt a bit rusty... Moreover the brief was pretty vague so I had to add my interpretation to it...I was just told the fav colors of the person who would be receiving this card... That's all I had to go by..

SO i made a quad easel.. My second attempt after the one I made to Tejal's birthday... You can check that card here.

Just sharing the pics, most of it is self-explanatory...
